Our newest large project is our construction of the Pro-Composites Vision Aircraft. This is our first experience in building a composite plane, so we are currently focusing on training members to handle working with composite materials efficiently.
In preparation for working on the Vision aircraft, the composites team has undertaken a small side project. The project, a surfboard, will allow team members to safely practice the techniques used in making composites and obtain a better understanding the of process. Thus far, the board has been cut and shaped. At the start of the Fall 2023 semester, the team will begin the layup of the board with fiberglass. At the beginning of the semester, the team will also introduce new members to the basics of composites and answer questions relating to the Vision project.
